Front Porch Fire Prevention Canvas Event
Posted on 04/13/2021

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson Fire Department is announcing a Fire Prevention Canvas on April 17, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The canvas is part of the State Fire Marshal’s Office “Front Porch Fire Prevention,” a new method of canvassing aimed at maintaining social distancing while preventing fire deaths across Tennessee through the dissemination of fire prevention education.

On Saturday, April 17, (weather permitting) a Fire Department Canvas will be conducted in the area of E. Chester St. to Hillcrest Circle Dr. The Canvas will consist of folders with education material to leave at each home as needed. The overall goal of this blitz is to deliver fire safety education to our community in a socially-distanced format and educate the residents about fire prevention in their homes.

Materials in the folders will include, but not be limited to, electrical safety, senior citizen fire safety, smoking education, wildfire awareness, carbon monoxide, hidden hazards, cooking fire safety, smoke alarms, Red Cross contact information, home fire safety information, and plans to make sure everyone gets out alive. Education will be provided to make homeowners, tenants and property managers more knowledgeable about their rights and responsibilities concerning fire prevention.

The mission of the Jackson Fire Department is to provide the best possible fire protection service and prevention to its citizens and visitors. We strongly believe that the key to surviving a fire is through awareness and education. For more information regarding fire safety & prevention, please call the Jackson Fire Department at 731-425-8689.
