Notice of Public Hearing Pursuant to Section 147(F) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, As Amended
JACKSON, Tenn. - Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Jackson, Tennessee (the “City Council”) will hold a public hearing on October 5, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. regarding the proposed reissuance for certain federal income tax purposes under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the “Code”) by the City of Jackson, Tennessee (the “City”) of its Hospital Revenue Refunding Bonds, Series 2015 (Jackson-Madison County General Hospital) in a principal amount not-to-exceed $177,590,000 and its Hospital Revenue Bonds, Series 2018A (Jackson-Madison County General Hospital), in a principal amount not-to-exceed $57,730,000 (collectively, the “Bonds”). The proceeds of the Bonds were used by Jackson-Madison County General Hospital District (the “District”), a joint, nonprofit hospital district created by Chapter 686 of the Private Acts of Tennessee Legislature for 1949, as amended, for the purpose of financing and refinancing the costs of acquiring, constructing, renovating and equipping and otherwise improving certain health care facilities of the District located within the City of Jackson, Tennessee on, within or immediately adjacent to the (i) Jackson-Madison County General Hospital campus, which is generally bounded by Forest Avenue and Wilshire Drive on the south, Summar Avenue on the west and Summar Avenue and Coatsland Drive on the northwest, Skyline Drive on the north and Highland Avenue and Lambuth Boulevard on the east, with a principal street address of 620 Skyline Drive, Jackson, Tennessee and (ii) West Tennessee Healthcare North Hospital campus, which is generally bounded by Channing Way on the south, Rte. 186 (Hwy. 45 Bypass) on the west, Oil Well Rd. to the north and Windale Drive to the east, with a principal street address of 367 Hospital Boulevard, Jackson, Tennessee. All facilities financed or refinanced by the proceeds of the Bonds are operated and maintained by the District.
The public hearing will be held in the George A. Smith Meeting Room (Suite 107), City Hall, 101 East Main Street, Jackson, Tennessee 38301. The public hearing is intended to comply with the public approval requirement of Section 147(f) of the Code, and the Treasury Regulations promulgated thereunder.
Interested persons wishing to express their views on the reissuance of the Bonds will be given the opportunity to do so at the public hearing at the above-stated time, or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, and place. Following the public hearing, the City Council will be asked to give its approval pursuant to Section 147(f) of the Code, as the applicable elected officials of the governmental unit having within its jurisdiction the above-described health care facilities.
