JACKSON, Tenn. – The Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center and the Jackson Recreation and Parks Department will host a Pine Arts Camp for children. The free outdoor arts event will provide children with a unique learning experience focused on the performing and visual arts.
The four-week Pine Arts Camp program will be taught by experienced, professional instructors. Children who attend all four weeks will receive a certificate and a complimentary ticket to attend the Ned Children and Teen Theatre production of Peter Pan, Jr., January 26-28. 2023.
“Pine Arts Camp was part of the City of Jackson for several years in the 1980s and we are bringing the program back for children to enjoy. Many of the kids who enjoyed the program now have kids of their own who will enjoy the Saturday arts activities,” said Grayson Hart, Ned Children and Teen Theatre Coordinator. “It is an opportunity for elementary and middle school children to learn about movement and the physical energy of dance and technique of ballet, visual art, what it’s like to be in a play, and working a group to make music.”
Children must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or adult group leader.
