JACKSON, Tenn. – The City of Jackson, TN and Keep Jackson Beautiful are pleased to announce the return of Chipping of the Greens, a Christmas tree recycling initiative, on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Starting today, through January 12, 2023 at 4:00 p.m., residents can drop off their Christmas trees at one of three locations including North Park (recycle bin parking lot), Liberty Garden (west parking lot), or the City of Jackson, TN Fire Training Center (south parking lot). Trees will then be picked up and taken to the Fire Training Center be turned into mulch on Saturday, January 14, 2023, starting at 9:30 a.m. (pending weather and mulch). The recycled mulch will be available for public pick up, while supplies last.
“I am glad that we can continue this long-standing tradition.” said City of Jackson, TN Groundskeeping Superintendent JD Sims. “It is a great way to give people an avenue to be able to recycle their Christmas trees and help provide free mulch to citizens. We hope to continue to be able to get the word out about this valuable resource.”
Residents who would like their Christmas trees picked up can call Health and Sanitation Department at 731-425-8545 or make a new request for “Christmas Tree Pick-up” via the Ready 311 App or on our website at www.jacksontn.gov by selecting “311 (Report Issue)” under the Government Tab.
The rain date for the event will be Saturday, January 21, 2023.
