FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City of Jackson Is Opening the Bidding Process for New Solid Waste Collections Providers
Jackson, Tenn.— The City of Jackson has notified Waste Management that it will not be renewing the existing solid waste collections service contract in 2021.
The original contract was dated August 1, 2016 and will expire on July 31, 2021. The current contract did have the option to renew for five, one year terms which the city will not be pursuing.
“The goal of my administration has always been to promote transparency, efficiency and inclusion,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “We feel like this is one step in the right direction. The current contract is unclear in regard to bulky waste pickup and we need to explore our options to ensure that we are delivering the best residential and commercial services available.”
The City of Jackson will be accepting new bids/proposals for solid waste collection and intends to give notice to all interested providers and the general public when bidding officially opens. At that time, bid qualifications can be found online at jacksontn.gov under the purchasing department section.
